Governor Otti orders improved facilities at Aba, Arochukwu correctional centres

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has directed the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu Monday and the Special Adviser on Security, Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah, to install solar-powered facilities at Nigerian Correctional facilities in Aba and Arochukwu.

This is as he promised to improve the operations of NCoS and inmates in the State.

Governor Otti gave the directive on Thursday when he received the Acting Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Zone E Headquarters, Owerri, Ngozi Alice Okereke, in his office.

Otti, who was responding to the request of the Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, directed that facilities at the Aba and Arochukwu Correctional centres should be improved, irrespective of the fact that NCoS is a federal government agency.

” Even though you are a federal government agency, the benefits come to the state,” Governor Otti said.

Earlier in her speech, the Assistant Comptroller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Okereke, appreciated the Abia State government for supporting the Nigerian Correctional Service, particularly the Abia State Command and the zonal office.

She also thanked the Governor for addressing congestion at the Aba custodial centre through the building of more cells, among other provisions.
