Uzbekistan places Nigeria, others on visa ban, gives no reason

Uzbekistan has yet to give reasons why it placed Nigeria and some other countries on a visa ban.

The Asian country, earlier on Friday, placed temporary restrictions on visa issuance and entry into the country for Nigerian citizens.

The information was contained in a notice published on the website of the Green Energy Technologies Central Asia, GETCA, exhibition.

The notice read, “Temporary restrictions have currently been introduced on the issuance of visas and entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan for citizens of your country.”

The notice, however, advised Nigerians seeking to travel to Uzbekistan under exceptional circumstances to contact the consular section of the country’s embassy for clarification and further guidance.

Other countries affected by the ban include Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, Iraq and Bangladesh.
