The Solid Miners will face off against their next-door neighbours, Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, in a crucial 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League Match-day sixteen encounter at the Lafia City Stadium, on Saturday, 7th December 2024, by 3pm.

Both teams find themselves entrenched in a difficult start to the current campaign, with Nasarawa United in the bottom of the table with 15 points, just one point adrift of safety, while Lobi Stars sit just a point above the drop zone in 16th place.

The stakes are high, and the tension is palpable as these two zonal rivals who share the same match venue clash in a match that could have significant implications for their respective seasons.

Saturday’s tie is a must-win for the Solid Miners to provide the much-needed boost in their quest to avoid the drop.

Technical Director, Kabir Dogo, emphasized the importance of the derby clash, saying, “This is a must-win game for us after a series of disappointing results in the past.

“We need to be at our best and take advantage of the home crowd to get the three points which will see us climbing out of the red zone.

“It’s going to be a tough match, no doubt, but we are ready for the challenge.

“We have been working hard in training, and we are confident that we can get a decent result.”

Incidentally, Organizers of the League Bloggers Award will be using the occasion to present the duo of Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United and Ossy Martins of Lobi Stars the Player-of-the-Month Award for the months of September and October, respectively,
before kick-off.

Both players are currently in the Camp of the Super Eagles Team B ahead of Nigeria’s CHAN Qualifiers against Ghana later this month.
