The FCT Police Command has confirmed an attack on its men by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as the ‘Shi’ite’ group.

The shiites attacked the Police officers attached to FCT command at Wuse Junction by traffic light. Two officers were killed while three were left unconscious in the hospital, and three patrol vehicles set ablaze.

A press rrelease by Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer said the proscribed organisation attacked the police checkpoint unprovoked, wielding machetes, improvised explosive devices (locally made bombs in bottles with kerosene), and knives.

The statement said several arrests have been effected while the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, condemned the unprovoked attack.

The statemt read ”he promises to bring those involved to book.
The situation is presently under control and normalcy restored.

”Further development will be communicated in due course”.
