There is tension in Aba, Abia State as the Nigerian Army vowed to avenge the death of its men.

Governor Alex OttiĀ had placed a twenty-five million naira bounty on the head of the hoodlums who committed the crime, encouraging the military to exercise caution as they search for the criminals.

However, there are reports that some youths in Aba were arrested by the Army on Friday while travellers are being forced to trek distances with hands raised by military personnel at Umuikaa junction in Aba.

The heavy security presence has forced residents to abandoned their businesses for fear of being arrested .

Many youths living or doing business around the Obikabia junction where the soldiers were killed, have also fled the area, to avoid being arrested or intimidated.

Residents say many shops around the Obikabia junction where the Army officers were killed, is under lock and key in fear of any possible reprisal by the Army.
