The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, has said samples collected from two suspected Ebola cases reported in Yola, Adamawa State, have tested negative for Ebola virus disease after two rounds of testing.
The NCDC revealed the latest update on its X account on Sunday morning, following its announcement of two suspected cases in the Northeast.
The health agency explained that it is working with the Adamawa State Government to investigate the suspected cases, which were isolated and tested as part of the public health response.
The agency clarified that the index case previously confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory remains the only confirmed Ebola case reported in Nigeria to date.
The NCDC urged the public to remain calm and rely on official government and public health channels for accurate information.
It advised anyone experiencing symptoms, including fever, severe weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea or unexplained bleeding, particularly following relevant exposure, to seek immediate medical attention.
The agency also urged individuals seeking care to inform healthcare workers about any relevant travel or contact history to support appropriate assessment and response.
