Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has told the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, to either join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, or desist from interfering with the party.
This is as he asked the minister to make his political position clear over his involvement with the Rainbow Coalition, noting that he cannot simultaneously support the APC and other political parties.
Governor Lawal made the call during an interview on Channels Television’s Inside Sources.
The governor was speaking on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Lawal said Wike must choose where his political allegiance lies.
“Our message is very very clear, be on one side, you can’t be on two sides. If you are in APC, please come out and support the APC, not you are supporting APC here and you are supporting some other political parties somewhere else,” he said.
According to him, the APC governors would not change their position, regardless of Wike’s comments on the issue.
“We maintain our stand and the message is very clear. He can speak, he can say whatever he wants to say, but our position has been very clear, APC all the way from head to toe,” he added.
Recall that Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been associated with the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party political platform aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
