The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a primary election timetable for the newly restored four constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, and others.
The development came after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last Saturday restored the State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, and fixed 21st–25th August 2026 for the conduct of party primaries for the restored constituencies.
“This coincides with the period for the conduct of primaries for bye-elections to fill recent vacancies in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State, the Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies of Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency of Delta State, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency of Kano State. Elections into these constituencies have been fixed for 19th September, 2026,” INEC statement issued last Friday read in part.
In a statement, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, said the move is pursuant to the judgment of the courts directing the restoration of the additional constituencies in the two states.
Following the development, APC on Wednesday listed the constituencies where the primary elections will hold in Delta as Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II State Constituencies; and Yagba West II State Constituency in Kogi State.
Others include Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Disina State Constituency and Sakwa State Constituency in Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency in Delta State, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.
The process, which began on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, is expected to run through Monday, 24th of August, 2026.
