Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Tuesday morning, returned to the Kaduna State High Court for the continuation of his trial over alleged financial improprieties.
Primenewz sighted the former governor entering the court premises amid tight security and surrounded by officials who appeared to be alertly monitoring activities around the facility.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which had El-Rufai in its custody for weeks, had granted the embattled politician temporary bail to attend the funeral rites of his late mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who died in Cairo, Egypt.
The release was said to have been on compassionate grounds following his bereavement, the ICPC has, however, not offered any official reason for its action or the specific conditions attached to the bail.
The development had sparked reactions from Nigerians, who questioned the rationale behind his release, despite his bail application still pending.
Recall that El-Rufai was arrested on allegations of money laundering and financial misconduct and involvement in questionable financial transactions, but his lawyers have denied all allegations.
