Police operatives have taken over security arrangements at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the arraignment of Senator Natasha Apoti-Uduaghan over alleged defamation.

The police personnel numbering over 200 are stationed at strategic locations and also within the court premises.

The officers who are armed are said to have been deployed to the court to ward off possible threats to peace in the area before during and after the arraignment.

At the time of this report, politicians believed to be followers of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello have filled the courtroom waiting for proceedings to commence. The matter was slated for 11 am.

Senator Natasha’s sympathizers, led by former Minister of Education Dr Oby Ezekwezele and other human rights activists have also arrived in court.

Natasha is billed for arraignment before the court on 3-count charges of defamation brought against her by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

She was alleged to have defamed the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
