Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for approving ₦712.3 billion for the renovation of a single airport in Nigeria.
Peter Obi described the move as a misplaced priority, noting that 34 million citizens are currently at risk of hunger according to a recent warning issued by the United Nations.,
He argued that at a time when Nigerians are going to bed hungry and waking up without hope of a meal, the political class are busy beautifying airports for their own pleasure.
Hr noted it is unacceptable for such a huge amount of public funds to be channelled into airport infrastructure.
