MultiChoice Nigeria, owners of DStv and GOtv pay Television has reduced its subscription fee by 50% for all packages after the country’s Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, suit against its Chief Executive Officer, John Ugbe in court over obstruction of investigation, others allegations. 

In a statement on Tuesday, Ugbe announced a significant subscription fee price drop, saying the price slash was in response to the noticeable economic impact on the everyday lives of Nigerians.

“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day”, the company added. 

In May May 8, 2025, the Federal High Court in Abuja, had dismissed a suit by MultiChoice Nigeria, seeking to uphold its DStv and GOtv price increase.

The company had increased its DStv and GOtv bouquet prices three times within 12 months, first in April 2023, followed by another hike in November 2023, and a third announced in April 2024, which took effect on May 1.
